Introducing the TRUNKWERKS BMW i4 EV Port Cover — Release 1.0

Purpose-built for the BMW i4. Shaped and scanned around the dimensions of the car. Refined through real prints, real assembly, and real fit testing.
The TRUNKWERKS EV Port Cover brings our approach to practical i4 accessories outside the trunk: a removable canopy designed to add overhead shelter around the charging connection, with a clean shape that follows the port opening.
Release 1.0 is the result of repeated testing on our development i4. We started with scanned charging-port geometry, then worked through the details that only become clear with a printed part in your hands: how it seats, how it clears the flaps, how the magnets install, and how easily everything comes together.
Built around the open charging port
The one-piece body combines a gently arched hood with supporting side webs. A shaped bridge clears the opened AC and DC flaps, while one central opening keeps both charging ports accessible. A dedicated cutout leaves the charging-door latch post clear.
Installation follows a simple sequence: open the charging door and both AC/DC flaps, place the cover over the opening, and seat it against the fixed surround. Seven bar magnets hold the cover in position, with no drilling or adhesive applied to the car. Remove the cover before closing the flaps and charging door.
A better way to assemble the magnets
We spent considerable time refining the magnet retainers. Release 1.0 uses two full-length strips: one for the three upper magnets and one for the four lower magnets.
Each strip locates with a broad tuck tab at one end and is secured by an M2.5 screw and hex nut at the other. The magnets are mechanically enclosed, and the strips can be removed for servicing. The assembled lower lip keeps a clean exterior surface.
Our latest complete test print printed, assembled, and installed successfully. That hands-on feedback shaped the version we’re introducing today.
What you’ll need for assembly
**Magnets, nuts, and screws are not included. Purchase the required hardware separately.**
- Seven 25 × 4 × 3 mm bar magnets.
- Two M2.5 × 6 mm screws.
- Two standard M2.5 hex nuts.
The cover has three printed components: the main body, upper retainer, and lower retainer. Our assembly guide walks through loading the magnets, inserting the nuts, and securing both strips.
The next addition to TRUNKWERKS
The EV Port Cover joins our trunk-storage products as another accessory developed around everyday use of the i4. We’re looking forward to sharing the finished cover, the assembly process, and more of the work behind it.
The TRUNKWERKS BMW i4 EV Port Cover — Release 1.0. will arrive to the store soon.
